High CBG

High CBG cannabis has been bred to pump out loads of cannabigerol, a cannabinoid that's usually barely there in normal plants.

Most strains have less than 2% CBG, but these new ones hit 10–15%, and some crack 22%. They usually keep THC under 0.3% (often under 0.2%).

How breeders made high CBG happen

CBG was first made in a lab back in 1964, but for ages it was just a footnote, most plants had so little it didn't matter. Then breeders cracked the code.

They figured out that CBGA (the "mother" cannabinoid) normally gets turned into THCA and CBDA, which become THC and CBD when you heat them.

By stopping that conversion, breeders locked in plants that keep all their cannabinoid content as CBG instead of turning it into something else.

White Whale comes from The White breeding line with OG Kush in the mix, and it hits about 14% CBG. Jack Diesel mixes Jack Herer and NYC Diesel, bringing diesel fumes with a light floral edge.

Juicy Fruit blends old Afghan and Thai genetics, while Lemon Meringue crosses Lemon Skunk with Cookies and Cream to reach around 2% CBG.

Some labs have even made strains that put 100% of their cannabinoid output into CBG, and those should hit the market soon.

What high CBG cannabis smells and tastes like

Because breeders cut the flowering short to max out CBG, these plants don't make as many terpenes as THC-heavy strains. But they've still got character. Madras CBG smells like citrus and cranberry and looks proper top-shelf.

White Whale brings citrus, floral, and sour notes, and Jack Frost has a citrusy smell with chamomile hints and a flavour that's a bit like beer with an orange wedge in it. Lemon Diesel CBG gets its lemon punch from the same terpenes you'd find in citrus peel, giving it that zesty, crusty edge.

Super Glue CBG tastes earthy and piney, and the flowers show off purple and green trichomes that look brilliant. Sour G balances sweet and sour with a grapefruit vibe.

White CBG is mildly sour with a zesty kick, and Juicy Fruit packs loads of myrcene with herbal, pine, and citrus notes. White Widow has complex chemistry without being covered in trichomes, which appeals to people who want deep cannabinoid content.

The trichomes on CBG flower are super bright and loaded with cannabinoids, they shimmer like little diamonds because there's so much CBG packed in.

Seed formats you can get

High CBG seeds that we stock currently are quite limited but we have Medi-CBG from Medicann Seeds, CBG Force by Dutch Passion, Leviathan CBG from Emerald Triangle Seeds and a few other options.

For collectors interested in the autoflowering side of things, our most popular autoflowering High CBG Strain is Auto CBG Force by Dutch Passion.

High CBG Frequently Asked Questions

It's hemp bred to make loads of CBG instead of THC, staying legal while delivering high cannabigerol levels through selective breeding.

Most have 10–15% CBG, but some like Super Glue CBG go over 22%. Jack Frost hits about 18%, which is pretty strong.

In the UK, cannabis seeds are sold strictly as collectibles and souvenirs. High-CBG products are federally legal in the US when THC stays under 0.3%.

CBGA is the raw, acidic form in fresh flower that turns into CBG when heated. Specially bred strains can have ten times the normal CBGA.

Jack Frost, White Widow, Biscotti, Super Glue, White Whale, Madras CBG, Lemon Meringue, Sour G, and Juicy Fruit all get mentioned a lot.

Both are non-intoxicating cannabinoids, but CBG is the precursor from which CBD, THC, and other compounds are made. High CBG strains retain more of the parent molecule, while high CBD varieties convert CBGA into cannabidiolic acid during growth.

Hemp naturally stays low in THC, which makes it way easier to keep CBG strains legal while still packing in the cannabinoids you want.

GTR Seeds offers feminised diploid, triploid, and autoflower formats. They also do seedless versions and sampler packs with multiple strains bundled together.

Aroma intensity is generally moderate. High CBG genetics produce earthy, herbal scents that are less pungent than many high-THC cultivars, making them a discreet choice for collectors who prefer subtler fragrances.

CBG is rare in normal plants, and these strains need early harvest and specialised breeding, so they're harder to make and cost more.
