Kiwi Seeds kicked off in 2002 in Amsterdam, but the heart of the brand is New Zealand. In the 1970s and ’80s NZ was full of interesting imported genetics thanks to travelling growers, but by the 1990s a lot of those lines were fading out. Kiwi Seeds was started to stop that from happening.
By teaming up with the legendary Dampkring coffeeshop, they were able to combine their collected New Zealand stock with top Amsterdam genetics and turn it into a tight, well-tested catalogue of around 15 strains.
The result is a line-up that feels familiar but still a bit different from standard Dutch fare.
Their best-known strain is Mako Haze — a 70% sativa with a smooth haze flavour and clear, creative effects that’s picked up multiple awards.
They’ve also won trophies with Milky Way and Cloud 9, which tells you the breeding work is solid.
Today Kiwi Seeds are popular with both medical and recreational collectors because the strains tend to be balanced, flavoursome and just that bit unusual.
