Where bruce banner comes from

Dark Horse Genetics built Bruce Banner back in 2009 by bringing together OG Kush and Strawberry Diesel. Jason Holck, the breeder behind it, sometimes called OG Ironlung, worked through several rounds to lock things down, ending up with five different versions numbered one to five.

Numbers two and four got dropped early because they weren't strong enough, leaving one, three, and five to carry on. 

Bruce Banner #3 quickly became a top-shelf favourite from 2009 to 2013, sitting alongside legends like White Widow and AK-47 in North America, Europe, Australia, and Russia. Delta-9, an Amsterdam seed bank run by Ed Borg, later tidied up the #3 version and made it available as feminised seeds. 

Some people say Bruce Banner #3 actually started in Colorado from an elite OG Ghost clone crossed with Strawberry Cough and Sour Diesel, but the OG Kush and Strawberry Diesel story's the one you'll hear most often.

What it smells and tastes like

Bruce Banner brings a proper mix of sharp diesel and sweet fruit together in one go. The smell hits you with diesel and earth, then mint, candy, and strawberry come through, and some versions throw in citrus and a floral petrol edge.

It's intense but nice, like Sour Diesel with extra sweetness from the Strawberry Diesel side. 

When you taste it, you get sharp citrus balanced by earthy, piney, diesel notes, plus hints of sweet grass, strawberry, and herbal tea.

Some people pick up candy-like sweetness with berry underneath and a touch of flowers, while others notice spice, pepper, and even blue cheese. 

The main smell-makers are myrcene, which brings herbal and earthy tones, caryophyllene for spice and pepper, and limonene for citrus, with humulene, nerolidol, pinene, and linalool filling in the gaps.

Strength and what's inside

Bruce Banner's known for being seriously strong, with THC usually sitting between 24 % and 32 %.

Most batches land between 25 % and 30 %, though some have gone past 30 %, a big deal when Bruce Banner #3 first appeared in 2009, because hardly anything topped 25 % back then.

CBD stays low, around one to one-point-three per cent, and CBN's about the same. Bruce Banner #3 was the first ever to reach 30 % THC and won the 2009 Denver High Times Cannabis Cup, which locked in its reputation as one of the strongest around. 

Lab tests show THCA at about 22.4 % with CBGA at 0.41 %, meaning there's plenty of the raw stuff before it converts.

This kind of strength means it's not for people just starting out, and even seasoned folks should go steady.

What the seeds grow into

Bruce Banner seeds come as feminised varieties and work indoors, outdoors, or in a greenhouse.

Plants show a balanced sativa-indica shape, usually 60 % sativa and 40 % indica, staying compact indoors but stretching a bit more outside. 

Bruce Banner makes dense, heavy buds with swollen calyxes covered in thick, frosty trichomes that give them a seriously iced-up look. Flowers are bright green, often with magenta, purple, and orange hairs, and the big fan leaves can turn deep dark magenta late on.

These plants handle disease, mould, and pests really well and put out solid amounts despite being so strong. They grow wide and bushy, so the sticky, chunky buds need a bit of support. 

Flowering wraps up in about nine to ten weeks, roughly 60 days, and indoors you're looking at around 21 ounces per square metre.

Bruce Banner's a bit tricky because it stays short and bushy thanks to the OG Kush genes, so it needs a bit of know-how.
