Where high CBD seeds came from

Breeders started chasing high CBD genetics properly in the early 2010s. Paradise Seeds was one of the first to dig into it, building strains that balanced CBD and THC one-to-one.

Dutch Passion followed with CBD ComPassion, a sativa that hits around 7 or 8% CBD and was their first fully in-house CBD project. Cannatonic Feminized landed soon after as the first widely available high-CBD seed, a half-and-half indica-sativa hybrid with an even split between the two cannabinoids.

High CBD Farms, part of Barcelona's BBG Projects, brought fifteen years of research into the mix and focused on feminized seeds with a 99% female rate and very little genetic drift.

Their Candida cross throws in about 1% CBG alongside the CBD, showing how modern crosses can stack different cannabinoids.

Royal Queen Seeds runs tight testing on every batch to make sure the genetics stay stable, and Dinafem's R&D team spent years crafting hybrids like Amnesia CBD, Dinamed CBD, and Cheese CBD, all keeping their original smell and taste while pumping up the cannabidiol.

Science and patience let these companies pull out cannabinoids that used to hide in the background, then lock them down over several generations so the seeds breed true no matter where they end up.

Seed formats and what's inside

You'll find high CBD seeds as feminized, autoflowering, or regular. Feminized seeds skip the male chromosome, so every plant turns female.

Autos like CBD Auto Charlotte's Angel, CBD Kush Autoflower, and Critical Mass CBD Autoflower finish fast, lean sativa, and keep THC under 1%. We sell feminized F1 hybrids, including autoflower and triploid versions, that run about 27 parts CBD to one part THC.

Cannabinoid ratios swing all over the place. Paradise Seeds offers two main styles: ultra-high CBD with barely any THC (think 15–20% CBD and 0.4–0.6% THC) or a straight one-to-one split.

Harlequin CBD 2:1 can hit 13–16% CBD, one of the strongest around, while CBD Critical Mass Auto lands near 11%. Dinamed Kush CBD Autoflowering pushes 16% CBD with only 0.6% THC, and Blue Cheese feminized flips the script with over 20% THC and up to 5% CBD.

Sweet Tooth sits at 20% THC and 10% CBD, Harlequin brings 15% THC and 7% CBD, and CBD ACDC balances 5% THC against 20% CBD.

Smell, taste, and terpenes

High CBD seeds hold onto the rich smells and flavours you'd find in high-THC lines, just with a softer edge thanks to the cannabinoid balance. Terpenes are the oily compounds in the resin that give each strain its own scent and taste.

Myrcene, limonene, caryophyllene, alpha-pinene, beta-pinene, and eucalyptol all show up in high-CBD genetics, building layered aromatic profiles. Paradise Seeds pushes terpene depth to lift flavour and set their range apart from earlier, flatter versions.

The aromas shift from strain to strain. CBD Kush brings woody spice and pine, Harlequin bursts with citrus and tropical fruit, Blueberry CBD smells like fresh berries with a calming sweetness, and Cannatonic leans floral and earthy.
